Default J1772 EV Charging Plugs and Inlets

Hello all,

Let me start by saying that this is pretty much off subject, but some of you might be interested so...

I'm also President of Tucson Electric Vehicle Association, TEVA2, and since Tucson is one of the first places the Leaf is going to be introduced to and there are supposed to be about 200 Level II (240 vac) charging stations put up with the new J1772 standard, I've been trying to get some inlets that our members, who have conversions, can use. Finally I got some and let me tell you it was NOT easy.

They are sort expensive, but cheaper than getting them from REMA or Yazaki.

They are up at TucsonEV J1772 Adapter, one of my websites. My profit is really minimal, I just want to get these plugs and inlets out to the EVer's. The charging stations install costs are upwards of $2000 and are being paid for by YOU. See The EV Project » Home for more details.

This is interesting Rush.

We have an EV charging network in UK, infact there are several all with different specs and different connectors I have considered installing a socket on my own premises for passers by to use with my consent and it makes sense IMO to install two, one of the new connectors you have mentioned and a 16ah blue commando socket for general UK EV use.

Good luck with your project.

Rush, thank you for offering these. I was pricing out an EV conversion a while back, and the absence of J1772 entry ports from the Mouser and McMaster catalogs has been a real annoyance. I really hope we start to see some competition in the field, since it's less than $30 worth of materials to build one, right?
