Default Transmision noise

I've got a 2000 MT and mostly in 1st and less so in 2nd, under medium to high loads up to about 30 kph (20 mph) I get a clicking noise like a bad CV but tight turning doesn't worsen the sound.
Before I tear down the tranny, does anyone else also think it's the differential bearings?
There are about 225,000 km (140,000 mi.) on it and it shifts fine. There is no sound when stationary in neutral or in gear with clutch disengaged.
Light load and over about 30 klics I hear nothing.
I'm planning on an 11,000 km road trip in May so I can't wait for something more dramatic than clicking to develop.
Thanks for any advice.

Just keep driving it, it might get worse but it wont affect performance. Mine makes a card in the bicycle spoke kind of sound and I couldn't find it when I tore down the transmission to replace a bearing. Eventually when I have enough free time i'll take another crack at figuring out what it is..
