OP, do the speakers sit down on the flanges or are they sitting off on the backet with a small gap behind the mounting flange?

I've just spent 2hrs at the local car audio place & all we could find were Alpines like these - Car Audio & Security: Car Stereo, Speakers & Subwoofers, Car DVD Players, GPS and CD Changers & their component counterparts. Thing is they dont sit back on the flange, they stand off slightly as the backet fouls the aperture in the door card slightly.

Mark, they are the same speakers - 1725S. If you look at the photos and posts on the first page of this thread, they fit in the cradle without any cutting required. The standard grilles will still fit on top. Although the speakers are twice as good as stock, be aware that at this price point / 40W RMS they could be better - I would still consider cutting the basket for deeper / better quality speakers. Hope this helps.

Thanks Christian, I like the fact that no cutting is needed, so I think I may go for the component version - Car Audio & Security: Car Stereo, Speakers & Subwoofers, Car DVD Players, GPS and CD Changers

They should work as they have the same mounting depth. Do you know where you are going to put the tweeters?

FYI I was being half serious about the Knightrider sweeping light!

Probably on the black triangular trim piece at the fromt of the door.

I've pressed the button on the Alpine components - Alpine SXE-1750S Speakers - Speakers - Alpine - By Manufacturer

For under £40 I'm not expecting anything too awesome, but I still have the sub that I can fit if I feel the need & at least I'll not end up with damp carpets!!!!

I have been following along on the install by Gaget01 and did a similar install with Focal speakers. I mounted the tweeters on the triangular trim piece behind the mirrors. Unfortunately that isn't a great spot. I am planning to move them. The drivers side tweeter is very close to your left ear. The stereo imaging isn't great. I am going to try what Gaget01 has recommended. As far forward as possible on the A pillar facing one another. Bottom line... worth using some Velcro and testing some positions before doing the final install.
