I do this when auto stop wont work. Plus when the engine is back on I get 2 minutes of ELD engagement. This means I can push all the phev kit will give me to top off the ima system as I go to accelerate at low speeds, before it turns on the ELD at highway speeds.

VSS wire is located at the number five position of the thirty-one pin blue connector on the ECU under the passenger kickplate.
After removing carpet aways, next the four 10mm nuts holding the passenger kickplate, and the remaining two 10mm bolts securing it were removed. It's a bit rattly and could be somewhat a pain to bend up and around but the ECU was eventually released from the passenger kick-plate. It was flexible enough in summer, but in winter you may want to warm the harness with floor heat depending.
With ECI free, the 31 pin blue connector was unplugged, spun and unravelled a bit, and the coiled loom unwound a bit expose #5 pin blue/white wire a few inches up the harness. I tapped in with a Scotchloc for Rostra there and all's well.
In additiont to the Heater pdf perhaps the HVAC pdf will provide more info.
There are easier places to access the signal to monitor it (such as several connectors under the dash), but I suspect this is where the connection will have to eventually be made for the mod to work.

The FAS that Calpod designed, Highwater modified, and I sell with or without MIMA, has been working in well over 100 cars, and with the MIMA system, it is really a Plug and Play.
Why re invent the FAS when we have a solution that stops the engine at any speed, restarts with a touch of the gas, or shift out of neutral, or brake 2-3 times?
Build this and your good to go. http://99mpg.com/Data/resources/down.../total_fas.pdf
The goal of re-inventing the FAS is because with the system you have, you're not really causing a true AS, but rather, brute-forcing the engine into a stall condition by cutting off its fuel supply. That comes along with oil pressure lights etc on the dash.
I want to be able to cause a true AS to be commanded by the ECM at high-speed.
Development is a little more involved than plug n play, but not alot. A finished product going to market should be /fairly/ plug-n-play (though it might require pin replacement of the VSS pin into the ECM).
In other news: I'm about to replace my resistor jammed into C531 with a relay setup hanging off of the brake pedal switch. Anybody know where theres a good ground wire in there?

Good luck,
we have been trying to make "real" autostop work at high speeds for a while.
FAS with DC/DC enable does the job nicely, but we all would like a better way, so lets see it.
We don't really know how AS works, but assuming you have met all the requirements what's next? Do you apply slight assist to stall the engine? Or cut the fuel injectors? Which one is IMA doing now?
Woohoo! Todays test was successful! Elegant FAS achieved at speeds in excess of 50mph. Now to clean up the implementation a bit and fix it so its less dependent on environmental factors.

Alright, I wrote that last message while still in the car testing with my kludgey test-rig.
Basically, Elegant FAS works by modifying some signals to the ECM, and causing it to initiate an AutoStop event.
Since its the ECM initiating it, AS is still subject to the laundry list of conditions that inhibit it. The most problematic of these to deal with, is the ambient temperature. I have a solution in the works for this too.
This is a true AS, just like what normally happens at < 19MPH, only I was able to cause it to happen at any speed, when I pushed the button.
Installation will involve either some pin-replacement, wire-splicing, or connector-sourcing, but is not terribly involved. Its made substantially easier if the subject car is equipped with Plug-n-Play MIMA, through a minor modification to Mike's ECM board.
A finished product is still a ways off, and I have another idea for a method to allow it to work, even if the HVAC system is operating which I'll have to try out before I release a final product, but my test today shows that its certainly possible.
I was able to initiate an AS at ~96km/h (~58mph), and was greeted with a green AS light, a stopped ICE, and no idiot lights on the dash.
Very exciting stuff.

Nice to see someone else getting stuck into a hands on project. And coming up with a solution
Look forward to seeing the details but will understand if you don't want to give everything away LOL
I dont know much about the CVTs since they don't exist here in Canada. Would need info on how.
