Default Inelegant FAS ;-)

As practicioner of the inelegant FAS (key off), I've wondered for a while why we don't just intall switches, or relays, in all of the lines to the ignition switch. This is so obvious that it must have been asked before, so this will be a short thread

Easier to just cut power to the fuel injectors.

Maybe we are over engineering it? I ket off all the time when auto stop wont cut it or when I am driving my suzuki. I live on Hull St and our stop lights are fast at being green and 15 minutes at being red. I am not idling for 15 minutes.

Since my suz is a 95 it doesn't have fuel cut, so I key off and roll to a stop or pop the clutch to restart and keep going if the light accidentally turns green before I come to a stop.

Yeah, lets save dumping raw fuel into the exhaust for purging NOX from lean burn.

OK, that's a good answer. I was sure there must be one

Did that. Takes less than 30 minutes to get it working.

When you cut fuel and try to start it, how long will the ima system try to crank the car? Does it give a code when it fails starting? Have you tried cutting fuel while accelerating to make an EV mode?

I use a momentary contact push-button switch for my fuel cut so I get a restart immediately. I have heard from Right Lane Cruiser that that as long as you hold the fuel cut switch in, you would have a limited EV-type function. I have not personally tried it yet.

How long have you had your switch installed?

I've had my switch installed for about a month now and love it. Since one of my main strategies for high FE is to avoid using the IMA and the FE penalty from when it needs to be replenished (hence the main reason for the clutch switch), I have not tried to use the EV capability that the fuel cut switch would allow for. I do use assist but just use it very sparingly and these mods are just tools to help achieve my goals.
