I'm one of those that got tired of seeing warning indicators during non-AS, manual FAS. Here's my fix. Many had pulled the power steering fuse in the under hood fuse box, That was done to give a better feel to the steering, and some say to save a little on 12v power. This gives the fault indicator on the dash reason to shine IIRC. Been awhile. I unplugged the power steering control brain in the passengers footwell, and this killed the fault indicator for the power steering on the dash.
Still there remained the oil pressure indicator, lit up when in FAS.
Below the radio, center console there is connector #408. Hard to get to and work with. Pin #14. Red/Yellow. This is the oil pressure signal line coming in from the engine on its way to the gauge cluster. When the oil pressure is up the sending unit is open and the circuit to the cluster light is open/broken. When the oil pressure drops the sending unit closes and makes the circuit to light up the indicator. So to kill the indicator during manual FAS, we need to open the line again. Unground it. I used another small relay to get this done.
320 ohm 12v coil, 1 amp at 28v / .5 amp at 30v rating. Coming off my old style FAS relay setup I have 12v available when the FAS relay is energized. So default wiring on this little relay is connector Pin #14 is wired thru the relay in normally closed, this changes nothing.
When FAS is initiated the defeat relay is powered and opens the circuit #14. By the time the oil pressure drops, and the sending unit closes, to complete the circuit, the defeat is in place to keep the circuit open and keep the light from coming on.
The oil light still works key on before initial start,(unless I initiate FAS to bring up the 12v) and since I know the ICE is not running during FAS, I don't have to see the light.
Potted the relay Dabrowski style after wiring.
