If anyone is wanting the boards, it is looking like I'm not going to be able to tackle this project. My wife is going back to school starting this spring, so a costly project isn't possible at the moment. Let me know, $200 shipped to US.

If anyone is looking to get out of their A123 project let me know, I'm looking to get into it if the price is reasonable. Looking for cells and some of the basic electronics.

Default programming instructions

I have a couple of questions if anyone could help, i'm near completion of the assembly of my bms system

Anyone know how to program the Bms Master board or where to look?

Is there any detailed photos other then the schematics of exactly how to wire everything together?

Also do i need to install the "vr1 - vr6" capasitors?

is the bc337 transistor mouser part # 512-BC33716BU ok to use for Q1 ? .. i will use a 5- 10 amp supply?

here is my board.. if theres anything i missed .. please point it out.. i really tried to be sure.. just q1 is missing for me..

Your posted photo is not good/big enough to see detail.

You have to take it/them (The pics) out of the board and use a zif adapter connected to the programmer.

No. If you have studied and understand the schematics you should have an idea.
The master bus pins on the master board goto the master bus pins on the slave boards.
The slave bus pins on the master board goto the slave bus pins on the first slave board. Pin 1 goes to pin 1 etc. The slave boards are daisy chained together. The slave bus out on the first board goes to the slave bus in on the second board.

Connect up the Screen and a 12v supply to the Master board and the cells to the slave boards as has been described a few posts below. Then you should see something.

Not yet

I have no idea about that part number but any generic BC337 should do. Note the bc337 controls the charger 12v relay not the charger directly, so the current you mentioned is only relevant to whatever 12v relay you choose to use.

Make sure everything you do is safe and every cell is fused at the cell terminals. Read again all my posts in this thread and the original discussions. Mistakes now will fry the boards and I don't have any spares.

Post 218 has software. Did you do the rework resister?

Note the master board requires an additional 330R resistor between pin 7 of the watchdog chip and pin 9 on the master chip. This is for an additional safety feature. It is not shown in the schematic IIRC.

I have not actually.. Do you have a photo of where to put in the resistor?

I soldered the 28 pin chip in error... gah... i will try to find the datasheet for all chips to figure out where to mount the pic programing pins

which chip do i install peters software on? I assume its the pic16f886 chip? is this the only chip i program?

I have just downloaded the software from post 218 and the file has no extention... is it .exe or .hex?

seems my programer only takes .hex files...

i have a icp01-v1 pic programer...

the spec sheet says it programs pic10f, pic12f, pic16f, pic18f it has a 5 pic connector also...

Thanks
Steveo

I think this is going to be a struggle Steveo.

The file you downloaded is a zip file and contains all the software files you need.

How many pics are on the master board? That is how many need programming.

You will need to make an adapter to program your 16F886 then if you have soldered it onto the board. I used an IC socket same size as the 16F886 and stuck pins/wires into the correct holes on the socket from the programmer. It can then be pushed down onto the chip on the board and the little ic socket legs make contact with the legs of the ic on the board.

Your master board should look like mine (except for the red varistors).
Seems you have missed out the link on JP1.

A few resistors are missing I assume I have told you to omit those on a previous post. If so fair enough.
