Jim;
Mike did the AC hose thing some years ago. I believe he used the floor vent outlet and when the climate control was in that position, the battery cooled down real fast, with the AC on. Even with the AC off the air temp is probably a lot cooler because of where the air is coming from. (Cooler than cabin air)

Can't remember when the battery fan comes on low, then high. (Help)

Sorry to muddy up the thread on you, I liked your momentery switch idea and my mind started running rampant on how to use it other ways! Hope someone else can also benefit from the great work you've done here on the forum!

There is so much you can do with the switch, it works so,well that you don't even have to touch the AC controls even when temperatures are in the 90's or higher.

I'm even thinking of relocating the AC controls and adding some gauges in its current location, I already have a spare dash to do the mods.

Why not use a vacuum switch to turn off the a/c clutch when vacuum is low
as when you are accelerating. Adjustable switch. A/c would only come on when you are in cruse mode..

Wow, +1 for this idea... the trick is finding the right switching pressure. There are so many times I've wished for this exact thing: a way to auto cut off the A/C under load.

Like grayinsight says use a vacuum switch that is adjustable so you can dial in the correct
vacuum to turn on the compressor, or turn it off.
It would take a lot of experimenting to find the correct settings, but it would be set to your preference.

Here is the type of vacuum sw. You can use and adjust on eBay....

TRANSMISSION VACUUM SWITCH 350C 700 700R4 ADJUSTABLE 6" to 22" CUSTOM Tuneable | eBay

I have use this on other cars and it's works.. Use a relay for the clutch and the vacuum sw. To control the relay...
Have fun..

I have in my garage...somewhere....a switch that I bought for my 1956 Ford that was designed to shut the AC off when the engine was under load. I never put it on the Ford, but every time I come across it I think about putting it on the Insight....but I just never get around to it.....

My geo had a switch under the throttle that turned the ac off under heavy acceleration.

I want one that turns the ac on during fuel cut and regen.

I thought that Honda already automatically turns off the A/C compressor when your at WOT. That's the only time you need more power.
