I believe the K series Insights that were mentioned as an example of fitting a four cylinder are also available with a Jackson Racing Supercharger or a turbo, so fitting a turbo may be possible, especially one with oem compactness. I myself always dream of a Civic CNG engine swap.

Yes the K20 motors can be swapped into the insight but the entire hybrid system must be taken out.

LHT Performance in Florida does a swap which everything in the Insight works like stock.

And they do nice work. But it sure ain't cheap. I'd have to think hard before dropping $20K into my Insight!

Diesel might have more torque, but that 1.2L engine only has 45hp. It has lousy acceleration in its stock configuration (17 seconds 0-to-60 in the lupo). The electric motor would provide a nice boost to shorten that time.
