Default 03 HCH Hybrid Battery Rebuild

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum. I come here because I heard this was the place with experts so I hope I can find my answers here. I am sure these questions have been asked. But I have looked and there are no specifics on these issues.

So, I have started the Hybrid Battery Rebuild. I removed the battery yesterday. I broke the battery down to its individual sticks. And I have started charging the Cells. Once I charge then I will be Cycling them.

I have a few questions:

1. What was the charge rate you were using? I started using 3.3A. But I heard one of the batteries relieve pressure. So I backed down to 2.3A. And that seemed to work. I am using a Triton EQ charger for this.

2. I know there will be bad cells. Does anyone know where I could get individual sticks? If not, does anyone know where I could get a cheap pack. I will go ahead and test all those individually also.

Any advice, information or warnings would be helpful. Thank you again.

Eli is one of the battery gurus on this forum. Although his business (Bumblebee Batteries) is new sticks / batteries, I believe he will sell old ones if asked. Not sure why you heard venting at 3.3 amps. What was your voltage and capacity set for?

FWIW, I use a Superbrain 989 for stick conditioning, and a Genesis 1 for pack conditioning.

My 0.02 worth,
Tim Glover

Starting on page 5. There is no voltage or capacity inputs.

I believe that the "specifications" page gives you better information.

Thanks Willie for the response. I dont really see where it states the charging voltage and the capacity. I know the charger detects peak voltage and adjusts its amp charge rate.

I did have a pack that took over 5500 mah. All the others so far were around 2600 to 2900 mAh. After I complete the Charge/Discharge Process I will post the spreadsheet for comments.

Is there anyone else with advice on the Charge/Discharge rate they used?

Thank you everyone for their answers.
