Question How to repair ambient sensor wire?

Hello,

I'm new to the insight and reading these awesome forums figured out why my car won't autostop, the infamous ambient sensor wire is cut. The good news is my sensor and clip are there but no connector.

How do I repair the wires to be able to plug my sensor in? Is it possible? Which wire goes where? I appreciate any advice!

The wires are color coded.
Splice it back together where it was cut.

Hi Willie,

Thanks for the reply. Some the wires were cut and the connector is MIA on the sensor/bumper area I need a replacement connector.

Does anyone happen to know it this is the right one for the ambient temp sensor?

Well, #9 will give him the sensor (which he already has), but not the plug, which is what he needs. To get the plug from Honda, he would have to buy the wire harness ($$$$$)

You can get any Honda 2 position round plug from a junk yard if they will let you cut one off of a car. Then soldier it in place and your set.

I cleaned almost everything out, but I might have a few laying around still. I will check tonight.

I just soldered mine onto the sensor connectors itself and wrapped it in electrical tape to keep it from shorting out.

Why do people cut these wires? Someone must have started a rumor that it was a constructive thing to do, for some reason. It certainly isn't difficult to unplug on bumper cover removal. I've only been on the board for 4 years, but I have never seen anything to explain this apparently widespread issue.

Lazy naive mechanics who don't know what they are doing that pull the bumper off without unplugging sensor first and strip out the wires.

Very common, unfortunately.
