Joseph:
Yes you are welcome to visit.

I will look at your system and see if I can help.
You might also try Jeff 652 for assistance. He's in San Jose. Probably about the same driving time.

HTH

Thank you Willie.

I'm very grateful. And thank you for mentioning that Jeff is also nearby. This is good to know.

I look forward to meeting you and your little red rocket

I will send you a PM when I have a chance to meet you, possibly within the next two weeks, and no longer than four weeks. Thanks again Willie.

Today I got a visit from Mindthoughts (Joe) and his lovely sweetheart. We spent a lot of the afternoon going over the turbo in the LRR and all the switches and gauges that I have installed.
I tried to answer all the whys and hows, so he could further understand why I made the mods. Eli should be getting an order for the OBDIIC&C gauge soon.
I guess we had a tutorial on everything that I could think of about the G1 Insight. I hope I answered all his questions.
It also included a ride in the LRR at dusk.

I then got to see the "Aqua Tune" installed in his vehicle. He did an excellent job of installation and it looks very professional. The theory is valid, only a little inflamed in my opinion. My electrical/engineer GURU also came by in his 1912 Model A and checked out the system.
I'll get with him tomorrow and see what he thinks.
The proof would have to determined by a dyno run, before and after with everything controlled by a computer as far as load, rpm, etc.

Based on their advertisement he should have about the same horsepower as the LRR.

His vehicle is a 2000 and it looks like new, although it has over 330K+ miles on it.
He has also done all the lighting mods, including changing the dash and gauge colors to a real pretty blue. He has installed the LED inside overhead light and it is great.
Rear springs and wider tires was his choice also. He is not a hypermiler and his driving style is similar to mine....with the flow of traffic.
It was a very pleasant afternoon/evening and maybe he will post about his dash lights mod...very cool.
Thank you Joe for the visit. I hope I didn't bore you with some of the "war" stories.

Willie

Default One Fast Little Red Rocket. I love The Sound Of Little Red Rocket's Turbo And Exhaust

Willie-
Meeting you and your Little Red Rocket, First Generation Honda insight was truly a great experience. Thank you very much for showing me your car, your approach to your Turbo System, and for explaining every aspect of the different switches and modifications you've made. It's very rare to meet someone so willing to go into complete detail about the why's and how's of a specific approach to different modifications that have been made. I really like your Turbo insight.

I'll never forget the feel and sound of driving in your little red rocket. Your car is awesome.

Thank you Willie. Thank's A Million.

PS. I will post pictures of the AquaTune Fuel System and the dash lights modification as soon as I have time to do so. All the lights match on the dash(instrument cluster), the Radio, AC area and all buttons and switches(window switch light and FCD button light as well) match in color and brightness. I primarily used photography gells and photography diffusion. SuperBrightLEDS dot com was the web site I used to order the Map lights and Dome Light and Hatchback area light(SuperBrightLEDS also offer the instrument cluster LED lights, which can be used rather than using photography gells. I purchase the photography gells from Samy's Camera in Pasadena, CA). The LED's are bright, not too bright, and a white light(daylight balanced color). If anyone has any questions about the lights or AquaTune fuel system, please send me a pm and I'll do my best to answer any questions. Otherwise contact AquaTune directly on their web site. They are extremely knowledgable about the system they design.

PPS. Willie, you answered all of my questions with ease and variation. You are a great teacher. You explain in great detail, and clarity. I understood everything you explain, even though many of the ideas were completely new to me. I'm extremely grateful. Thank you Willie

First the bad news....!

Within the last 320 miles after I filled up with gas, my LMPG has dropped another .2MPG.

Now I have to change the Stickers on the LRR to read.
309,000 miles and 57.8 LMPG average.
What a bummer.

The good news is that I predicted a change every 25,000 miles, but it happened after 25,330 miles, so I gained an advantage of 303 miles. (Premalink 326, page 33.)
Time to "hypermile" for a while to see if I can get the LMPG back up.
I tried that before and it was stressful.

Last trip to follow soon.

Willie

After app. 2 weeks and 1,000 miles, I finally got my LMPG to stabilize at 58.0 mpg. (See Permalink #366)
It took a lot of conservative driving, with some doses of hypermileing to get it from 57.8 back to 58.
I'll be changing the stickers on the LRR again.
Over 8,500 miles on the BBB and no problems yet.

Happy Holidays

Willie

Today, my LMPG has finally locked in at 57.8 Cold weather now, so the chance of getting it back up look slim.

Sat. in the early AM, the LRR will be launched for another "Road Call".
I will be enroute to Visalia Ca from my home base.
Primary routes:
N-I15,
N-215,
N-I15
N-Ca-395
W-CA 58,
N-Ca 99.

I'll be able to give the BBB a workout.
Post to be edited on return.

Willie

Here are the results of the trip as promised.
809 miles round trip and averaged 59.2 mpg. Speed, weather, and terrain had its effect. Everybody, except the truckers still running 75+.
Hypermiled a few times when traffic would allow it. Best was 78.8 for 42 miles on level highway. Used a lot of lean burn with the emergency flashers on.
The BBB was fantastic. Never did get below 140V on the OBD gauge even with hard use over the entire trip.
The "Road Call" wasn't the best results but was a good training session.
More to come. Maybe VA?

I met with "Rainsux" on Thursday as he and his wife were traveling to San Diego. I met him in the desert and escorted him up the Mountain Springs Grade on 8West, then to my residence for a short visit and show and tell. After that I guided him on a scenic and good mpg route to SD.
Today I again met up with him and his Misses and we drove in tandum to the Glamis Sand Dunes where we again enjoyed a BS session before they departed back to NM.
Enroute we did pass "The Grave Digger" eb on I-8 before El Centro. (In an Enclosed super duper trailer)
It was a very pleasant 250 mile drive and I kind of enjoyed the slower speeds. (60-65)

Coming back I fell into my normal "sport" pattern so I lost the mpg's I had gained.
I did relish the fact that I could out accelerate a Chevy ,diesel turbo dually pickup up the MS grade.
HE was pushing me first at 70 but fell back as I accelerated to 90, up the 6% grade.
I dropped behind him as I let him go by and then we were cuiseing at 80 for a very long time.

Hopefully Rainsux will post about his trip.

Willie
