Mr. Wayland replied to my email today re. making/selling the Shoebox Sub, and he's apparently still willing to make a batch of SIX subs if we can ORGANIZE our sorry selves to make it happen. Perhaps we can send our $ to John until the minimum is attained. We could then post that we've sent our money to him to see where we are in relation to the goal. I'll ask John if he's willing to hold our $. If he isn't, then I am. If that's how it winds up, I'll supply all my personal info, where I work, home address, all phone numbers, etc. I'd suggest PayPal, but it would also make sense to use cashier's checks which could be mailed back to the senders if it turns out that we really DO suck too much to get six buyers together. I'm just planting seeds, and willing to steer. I'll post here any reply from John on his willingness to hold the $. Here's his email to me:
You're just a tad bit late on this....I stopped making these about two years ago. I tried to stop before that, but was convinced to make a couple of 6 unit runs for others who really wanted them. I've made over 100 subs and kits, so there might be someone willing to part with theirs. You might want to go to 'Insight Central' on the web and check there to see if anyone is selling. I still have my #904 Silverstone metallic Insight, still without a single door ding (I guard it like a mother hen), with just 43,811 miles on it. Sorry I can't help you with a system. I've offered to build some more
recently for a couple of other requests that came in, but told them I'd
needed them to organize a group buy of at least 6 units for it to be
worth my time to fire up the assembly line again. That kind of fizzled
out and I never heard back from anyone.
My main focus the past couple of years has been my electric drag car
'White Zombie', so any free time I have above and beyond work and family goes into that project:
