Default Permanent Garage Door opener

Spend my weekend just playing around with putting in a permanent Sears garage door opener so I wouldn't have to keep buying those silly little batteries. Also, running off the car's battery makes the signal much stronger Although being incased in metal doesn't help.

Pic's of course:

Now I just have to wait for my shoebox sub to get built

(tried to submit to modification page, but form based email page no workie)

What voltage does the opener normally use? Is it a 9 volt battery?

Do you think the extra juice will cause problems later on?

Overall, I think this is a pretty cool mod. My wife's Odyssey has the HomeLink programmable opener that does seem to work much better than the portable ones.

The battery type was a 12v one (radio shack# 23-144) so there's no power issues.

I've done this twice before on a 84 Saab, and a 96 Saturn.

That is Cool.

Now I just need a house with a garage to put one in also.
