Default Front Air Dam Louvers

Right then. Several times I've pondered installing a radiator block or lower air dam block, but couldn't quite convince myself to do it at it looks like there's just a tiny crack to put the cardboard in for the former, and the latter looked like too much effort. Anyways. In examining the front air dam, it looks like there is already some kind of plastic louvers in there. I don't recall seeing these on pictures of other insights. Did the previous owner already install some kind of block, or is it just my memory failing me?

Your memory must be failing you! All Insights have a plastic louvre in the lower portion of the front bumper. I recently had to order and re-install one in my CVT Insight. HTH.

The louvers are there to scoop the air upwards to the radiator and to provide a little protection. Now if they could be flipped down to provide a winter blocking action......don't get me going!

Hello, based on Figgy's site, I used the same material but did not use the same blocking technic.

I simply put the material in front of the condensor (in front of the radiator)

I used two sections because I have a second horn right there. So I needed to make a cut out for the part to slide down into the groove at the lower section of the condensor.

I did not have time to upgrade my mod site so here are some pics:

Material cut (lower for the slide, upper for the latch):

I did not choose the colors, the parts came in 4 squares of 4 different colors at a renovation material store.

Hmm,l I see. I ended up just jamming a large piece of cardboard down in front of the condenser as well, so it blocks off both air intakes. It seems it was the perfect height to wedge inside the fender/quarter panel thingies so it looks like it should stay in place pretty good.

You know what's funny? The "Birdcage" Maserati, Alfa Giulietta, several old Ferraris, and the Volvo PV544 all had radiator blinds that were adjustable from inside the car. I suppose others, too.

Back to the future!
