Default Engine lugging when battery assist or charging, ~2000 rpm

Hey all,

My manual trans 2000 Insight has just started gettinga lugging chugging feeling when it's either getting battery assist or charging and I'm around 2000 rpm. It feels like the engine is not getting enough power from the motor - like a strain that manifests itself through a light chugging feeling.

I have about 46,000 miles on it - could my IMA need adjusting? I'm off warranty (darn!), so I'd like to have some idea of what's going on before I take in to the dealer.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like the engine hesitation problem experienced at 2000 RPM.
Do a search for "engine hesitation" and you will find lots of info.
I've experienced it 2 times in the past 2 years. Each time it lasted a few weeks and then went away.

I cleaned out the ERG valve with carb cleaner - worked like a charm. Those links were right on.

Does it really recur every so often?

Yes, it will come back, it may take 10 to 15K to return, it may return as low as 5K, I am doing it at 7500 Miles, with the oil change, make sure you let it soak overnight.
