Default Experts: Will these rims fit my Insight?

I'm looking at a set of 15" rims.

Here are the specs:

15" x 7.0"
4 x 100 bolt pattern
43 offset.

Will they fit my Insight?

Please help me out.

thanks!

Should.... but I'd check that diameter to be sure. There might be some clearance issues on both the front and back.

The stock wheels are
14X5.5"
with a +45mm offset
4X100mm bolt pattern

Be very careful though, something that wide is going to have a fat tire and the Insight doesn't really cope too well with a lot of rolling resistance. Plus your probably adding a lot of weigt to the wheels. If you do try them don't discard your stock wheels just yet.

thanks big time for the response!

i was searching what i could and someone on the board said something like 16x7 or smaller will fit the insight.

i'm going to do a test fitment first. hopefully it works out.

if i get them, i'll post up pics.

I think you may have a problem in the back because of the 7" width.
I put on 13" rims from Enkei (I had them on my 84 CRX but they still
look good) I bought Sumitoro 185/60/R13 tires so it made the overall
tire size slightly larger than OEM. Even with these tires, I can only fit
my finger between the wheel splat (wheel cover) and the tire. There
is also a problem behind the tire where the splat fastener is. Too big
and it will rub there as well. Even if the offsett allows for the wheel to
clear the splat it may rub on the inner metal (by the shock - not much
room back there)

By the way - Those tires have a rating of 51 PSI on the sidewall. I only
go up to 48 PSI but could probably safely go higher.

I test fit 14" x 7" Team Dynamic Race wheels (that weigh only 11 lbs) with 38 mm offset with 195/55R14 Kumho Victoracers Race compound tires. They fit the insight without rubbing when with the rear splat (wheel cover) installed. They cleared with full steering lock to lock. But they stuck out slightly so because I wasn't able to drive them hard the only concern is that they may rub the top of the front fender under hard cornering.

The 15"x7" rim you are considering has a 43 mm offset so it might rub on the inside.

For the Insight one of the best choices in aftermarket/performance rims are:
9.5 lb 14"x6" 38mm offset Kosei K1 TS for $120 U.S. at tirerack
It even has 2 tire valves so it can never hide under the rear splats

What size tires are you planning on using?

Thanks Guillermo.
I really appreciate your input. I might look into the Kosei's.
The rims I was considering were Volk CE-28s, but they are pricey.
Kosei's will help on price and are availabe in 14".
Though I like the grey/gunmetal finish, which is only available in 15"

I'll check into that.

Thanks again.

btw: why do you suggest a 38 offset?
what is the insight's stock offset?
just curious.

Insight and civic comes with rims with offsets of 45 mm.
But almost all aftermarket rims made for the civic have a 38mm offset.

Don't buy a 15" rim unless you know exactly which 15" tires would fit.

Yes, the problem is not the rim but the tires that goes with it.

I beleive that (there is a new thread about 16x7) the rims can all go in. But the tires are going to be of larger width. Therefore those will not fit in.

I know that 195/55R15 fits. But I would not think that larger tires could fit because of the rear clearance to the spat.

15"x7" rims with 43mm ofset SHOULD fit the Insight if you use
195/50R15 or 195/45R15 tires.

The best tires available in those sizes are:
Eagle F1 GS-D3
Toyo T1R
