Default SRS Airbag On/Off switch

Well, this post makes 2 to the forum....here goes:
I bought the Insight two days ago, and I'm needing to shut off the passenger airbag two days a week as I'm taking my lil' son to daycare before work, and going to the grocery store. Any ideas as to how I can shut just the passenger one off? There are two fuses for the SRS. One is for the airbags only, and the other one is tied into the fuel pump....Pretty smart of the Honda folks so that you can't drive if the SRS/FUEL PUMP fuse is pulled. Any ideas? Thanks!

Default passenger SRS airbag switch

hi Jeff,

just use the search button at the top of each page. Here's one link: http://www.insightcentral.net/forum/vie ... ght=airbag You'll find more.... Switches are available - either DIY or installed - but they're not cheap.

I'm amazed Honda didn't include the switch with the Insight. I had a 1998 truck that had it. My 2003 Corvette has it.

Before I found a place to get my cutoff switch installed, I talked to several Honda dealers and even contacted Honda's customer service line. Honda didn't include and won't install a cutoff switch because they don't want the liability for it. They acknowledged the fact that the switch may have value to their customers, but aren't willing to take on the potential lawsuits that may ensue from injuries etc. Easier to just put a sticker on the visor saying not to put child seats in the Insight!

So what did you end up doing? I investigated putting in the switch and decided it wasn't worth the money and hassle. Instead, I disconnected the Airbag from the wiring... I was thinking of starting a new thread describing the whole deal (which isn't a big deal after all).
