Battery Pack Pictures & LiION replacement

Does anyone have photos of a dismantled battery pack?
Paticularly I'm interested in the 2-cell packs (and what is inside of them if possible).

I have been thinking about the prospect of rebuilding a battery pack, perhaps even with LiIon batteries, as I recall Panisonic used different end caps, but they are otherwise normal D cells.

Are temperature ranges for Li Ion significantly different? I'm worried the BCM might have issues with something other than NiMH due to temp and etc.

LiIon batteries would probably need a different charging system, depending on the actual LiIon technology needed.
