It wasn't really a timeout session or login problem. I clicked on a link in my email to respond to a post by Peter and Outlook Express opened up a new browser window and I was responding in that window. I was about 90% done with a long response and I got a call from a customer and spent 5 hours on the phone with him. Afterwards, I clicked on the another link in Outlook Express and it ended up using the very same window that I was typing in hours earlier for Peter. I used the back feature and it remembered all the previously quoted material from Peter but did not place my reply within the text like I had it before. I could not get it back
Once I clicked and saw what was going on, I already knew it was too late...
By the way, I never have a login timeout issue. I can leave the same webpage up for several months and never try to log me out.

After Eli's response, I thought that maybe moderators have no session timeout. But now Joe says that the Website doesn't try to log him out. Maybe he means that he sees no session timeout popup forcing him to log in. I see no such popup either, but when I try to submit or preview a post more than about 5 minutes since I last submitted a request or refreshed the current page, I discover that my session has timed out and that I am presented with a login page. I haven't found any user preference that would affect the session timeout, so I'm a bit mystified by the apparent range of behaviors.

Nope, I can keep a webpage on my desktop for many, many months and never have to login. In fact, even if I close a webpage and go back to the site, it does not ask for login because when I originally logged in, I believe there is a check box to say keep me logged in. Also, I never log out.
The only reason I had a problem is because I did not use my standard Insight webpage I keep on my desktop becasue I did not see the post I wanted to respond to (several days later) and did not want to use the search. The option to have an email arrive when someone responds to a post that you have responded to as well contains a link directly to the post so you can use it as a short cut. It will open up a new browser window when you click on the link but it will re-use that same browser window if you click on another link within Outlook Express. That is when I had my problem because I was not finished (did not yet submit) with my reply to Peter when the browser window was re-used for the other link.

I've never had the problem, even long before I was a moderator. timny1984 also doesn't have this problem.
I don't think it's a forums setting, I think it's something to do with your browsers. Maybe you have your browser security settings too high, and it doesn't keep your cookies? It's gotta be something along those lines.
I never have to login on any of my machines or my machine at work, even after a reboot. I browse to the forums and see "Welcome, Eli" at the top without having to login. I did check the "Remember me" or whatever option at the time that you login.

Aha, that's probably the answer. By habit, I never check "remember me" on any Website. I don't want anyone else to be able to walk up to my computer and use my login session. This wouldn't be as big a deal with Insight Central as with some other Websites.
I plan to have these boards available for sale in the Spring. It will be a combined Low Speed Auto Stop board and CVT ratio modification board built onto one PCB.
JoeCVT, when the boards become available, please give me a shout. I'm very interested.
