Default CR-Z giving a tip of the hat to the 1st gen insight...

After seeing the recently released shots of the production ready CR-Z, I could only wonder... "man, what if.." and if not I will be making the spats for my own !! Thought the insight list might appreciate... in silver OR (gasp) black..

Thumbs down

Unfortunately an Insight owner (Gen I or II) can still beep and wave to a CR-Z while passing at the pumps.

Motor Trend recently reported that the MPG target for the CR-Z is only in the mid 30's highway.

I'll sadly wave good-bye to the CR-Z as a replacement for the Insight.

My gf and I are siiting here drooling over your pics. I was just thinking how sick it would look in a raw stainless like the Delorian, amybe with a clearcoat.

As far as the mpg's, last I heard it was estimated in the low to mid 40's for the US model...

hey cool. I'm glad they're entertaining pics to more ppl than just my imagination.

I read that motortrend article as well and I have to say I have trouble believing it. If the car had no IMA I would expect given the cars size, aerodynamics and the fuel efficiency of it's supposed predecessors (CR-X) that it should achieve somewhere around 30 mpg. but honda hasn't said a peep about the expected efficiency so for now I guess 30ish is what we can expect.

My beloved 1st gen insight was totaled by some oblivious red light blowing idiot a few weeks ago, so I've replaced my insight with the bus, a zipcar membership and my feet for now and am just investing the cash i got back from the insurance co. I'm not in any hurry to get let down by what car manufacturers, HONDA included are offering a decade after offering cars that blew even today's CONCEPT cars away in terms of efficiency. it frankly makes me a little bit ill.

I have no doubt you could get 50-60mpg in that with Insight-I wheels and tires, a grille block, wheel skirts, and good driving technique. But the same can be said of a 1992 Honda Civic.
