Default CR-Z warranty

Just saw the official infos of the CR-Z here in Switzerland. It only has a 5 year/62k miles (official: 100'000 km) warranty on the IMA system. Normally warranty gets longer and not shorter.

How about the US?

Interesting....... It was my understanding the warranty for hybrid batteries was setup soo high to remove concerns that it would be costly to replace and defeat the fuel savings of purchase in the first place.

Either the warranty is not necessary or the hybrid system pushes the battery harder for more performance and it has a shorter life expetctancy.

Exactly. Reducing the warranty rises the potential risk on the buyers side. It all depends on the price of the battery in 5 or 6 years. If it's $200 or so then I would not argue but we're talking about $2000 or so (in Europe $4000 list price). After 5 years, it depends on Honda's goodwill to replace it if it really goes bad. Not a comfortable situation.

Interesting that Toyota reduced the warranty in Germany to 5 years/60k miles while they offer 8y/100k in Switzerland.

In the US it is for the new Insight:
Battery Limited Warranty[1] = 10 years/150,000 miles (AT-PZEV emissions rating). (CARB states)
Battery Limited Warranty = 8 years/100,000 miles (ULEV rating) (non-CARB states)
