Last I heard Honda was discontinuing the civic.

Ok, read the article, epa +3 for a 44 vs 41 and lithium vs nimh. The 68.7 was on a test track with an expert driver.

Apparently the Civic is redesigned and here to stay. I'm also aware that the the increase in EPA city MPG is only 10%.

yeah, there was an article saying that in japan honda was discontinuing the regular civic and only selling the hybrid because the japanese market goes nuts for them. When the story made its way over to america it became all civics were being discontinued and the japan only part was dropped.
Im excited to see the bump in fuel economy even though it is a small one, but I will be watching the fuel consumption sites to see how the ECON mode that they added to the new civic helps the hybrid.

Any word on the U.S. availability for the hybrids? My parents are looking into them, and I was told they won't be in for 6-8 months by the dealership I bring my Insight to.

In Japan. Evidently not a hit seller in the homeland?
