Default HCH1 12v must be very different from the Insight

I've been having this weird problem the last week and a half.

Everything works perfectly. Then I shut off the ignition. After I get back in it, 3 things may happen (on going in/coming out of whereever I was going):

1) Nothing, everything is exactly as I left it.
2) The trip odometer has left Trip A and is now back at the regular odometer readout.
3) #2 and the radio says code and the IMA is at 0 bars and has to climb back up (usually charges about 5 bars then positive recals to the top... I almost always leave with 18 bars on the display).

Otherwise everything in the car works perfectly, no dimming lights, no anything, even when it shows 0 bars on the IMA battery, I still have never heard the 12v starter.

So this evening I finally have time to go futz around with it, I go and pop the hood... and wait for it...

The 12v battery's ground isn't even connected to the post. The ring clamp is just sitting on top of the post with however much gravity is holding it there... it's out of alignment by about half the terminal's width.

When the Insight even has an inkling of a bad ground, everything freaks out, this... just boggles my mind. How was this car not freaking out non-stop?

haha, that's pretty crazy... interesting to know that little of a connection didn't cause the car to go crazy. The battery wasn't dead or anything else?

I hooked up my ultra gauge to the HCH this weekend and i noticed some weird intake temps. i'll start a new thread talking about it later. but i'll just say in 30° weather i was getting over 105° intake temps. And when i dropped my speed down to get into lean burn i was getting intake temps in the 55° range... I have no idea why

Make sure you have the ultra gauge set on reading the MAP and not the MAF.
(Specific inst. in the manual (Book)
