Default Will not run

I have a 2000 with 186000. We had a really severe winter so it had to be garaged for the first time since we bought it new in 2000.

After taking it out this spring it showed an IMA light. I diconnected the aux. battery and that solved the problem.

Was driving it regularly and then one day about a month ago. I left work and when I tried to start it there was noise like it was running, but when I gave it gas it would die. Did it several times and then it finally sputtered to life and coughed and sputtered down the hill to our house.

The next day is started fine. about two weeks ago my wife drove it to church way out in the country and it got her there fine, but wouldn't start. Same problem, seems to start but then when you give it gas it dies. A kind farmer trailered it home for her.

It acts like a fuel pump...but with the Ima system I'm never sure. I live quite a distance from a Honda dealer (110 miles) and so am wondering if there is anyone who has had this happen to them?

Could be ground straps.

The only time I've encountered issues like you mention is when I've run out of gas.

Unfortunately, you likely did your battery in by garaging it all winter. You need to grid charge it ASAP.

With the IMA battey disconnected, and if you have a heavy "Load" on the 12V battrey, lights, radio, AC etc. the 12v wil not charge up completely. As with any electrical problem on the Gen 1, check the "load value" of the 12V battery.
Like ELI said, do check "all" the ground straps.

Checked all of the above. grounds and battery are good.
Actually, I've decided to give the car to a nephew in Ventura CA (I live in rural northeastern Montana, far away from any expertise on insigts.) I'm going to transport it to him commercially. Are there any people who know how to work on old insights in the Ventura area?
