Default Belt Squeal / Loose

I am assuming it is the belt. When it is humid in the morning and especially when wet it squeals and makes alot of noise. It goes away after a bit but it is getting gradually worse and I need to get it fixed. Is this an easy job? If not I will take it in.

2002 CVT 81k

Thanks,
Dan

If it's the serpentine belt it's a peice of cake, 2 spanners (size I can't remember) are all that's required IIRC.

12 or 13 mm and a 10mm box wrenches.

The serpentine belt (accessory belt) is simple to remove and replace. For your convenience, I'll post up the walk-through

1) Loosen the idler pulley center nut. Turn the adjusting bolt clockwise (counterclockwise for models without A/C compressor), then remove the water pump-A/C compressor belt or water pump belt. (#6 in the diagram below)

2) Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

3) Adjust the belt according to factory spec.

All in all, the entire procedure should take no more than an hour or so

For people who are sometimes not exactly bright, like me, step one is first nut 19 in the image and then bolt 8. Just back 19 off enough so that it's not pressing bolt 12 firmly against part 7 so that they can slide as you turn bolt 8.
