Default 4 Bad Shocks?

I replace my tires today and the old RE92s were all "cupped" on both the inner and outer edges. The car does not seem to bounce, but I was surprised at the shape of the tires. I got about 80,000 miles on the old tires.
I haven't rotated the tires in a while, but the alignment was good.
I run my tires at 48-50 lbs and in my past experience with older American cars is that the shocks are usually the culprit when the tires wear like mine are worn.
Am I wrong? I have 204,000 miles on the car and the shocks are not leaking. Almost all the miles are highway miles.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Bob

My first set of tires wore evenly on both the inside and outside edges and were toast at 103K miles. I was keeping the door label pressure in them for the 1st 36K then moved to 44PSI for the rest of their life. Since smoothly worn inner and outer edges is the indication of under-inflation, I changed to 55/50PSI in the 2nd set and it helped some but at 85K miles they're still wearing on the outer edges more than the center.

Bad shocks are indicated by unevenly worn inner and/or outer edges. Usually you'll see sort of a scalloped looking pattern.

My experience has always been that bad shocks are pretty obvious when you drive over a semi-rough road. I don't think that's the culprit for your tire wear. Probably running them at 50 psi is good for the mileage and not so great for the wear pattern.

The RE92's especially, but ALL tires on the front of the 1st gen insight seem to wear at the outside edges first, EVEN when overinflated to 50psi

All the inner and outer edges are scalloped, with the rears being the worst ones. I will replace the rear shocks and keep an eye on them.
Thanks for your inputs.
