Absolutely do NOT let them tell you that you need new IMA computers!!!! FFS. I hate dealerships.
Your error is P1447 and they're going to tell you that you need $4000 in repairs. Tell them to go pound sand.
I can't remember if the 10 year/150k mile warranty ends in 2002 or 2004. Read the stickied thread on the subject.

Hate to hijack this thread but I just want to post my issue.
I purchased my automatic 2003 Honda Insight (original invoice date 12/29/2002) with 37K miles just last October. Supposedly, it was own by very elderly gentleman who hardly ever drove it (the tires were dry rotted when i purchased the car). He had to sell it because he was no longer able to drive on his own.
Anyways, I started a new job that required me to commute 90 miles each way.Hence, why I purchased the Insight. The car now has 48K and i typically get 48-50 mpg (all highway driving at 70-85 mph). Just recently,I started to notice the battery charge indicator would 'jump'. Also, it wouldn't charge up as fast after going up a long hill.Today, I received the dreaded IMA light for the 1st time (No CE light). The car drives fine. It charges/assists like normal. The only problem is that the battery depletes faster, and it takes a long time to get it charged backup.
I stopped by my Honda Dealer today after work, and they couldn't do anything for me today (it was like 5:45pm) and scheduled me an appointment for Monday. They did say the battery has an 8 year/80K mile warranty, so according to them, my warranty has expired. They told me it was okay to drive it, although I may notice a drop in my fuel economy as the vehicle is running mainly on gas, with very little assist,if any at all, from the battery.
Can you all point me to a link where it states the battery has an 100K/10 year warranty? Is that extension only valid in CA? I live in South Carolina. Why would the dealer state the battery only comes with an 8/80 warranty? Should I take it to another Honda dealer? They did say it may not be battery - it could be the computer card that is faulty. They won't know until they perform some diagnostics.
I went thru the same thing with my 2003 MT Insight last Jan. I bought if off a older gentleman that bought it brand new and I bought it with 33k miles. Although it was a real "gem" it tripped the IMA light after about 3 weeks of ownership. Having been a 2003 it was covered by SB 06-057 which is 10 years or 157K which ever comes first. You may have to "dig" you heels in and stand you ground but it should absolutly be covered. I believe SC is not a excluded state. Read this US IMA warranty 10 year extension UPDATED to all 50 states!
Go to this Sticky and download the first Zip named HondaInsightPDFs.zip (50mb) it will have all the SB including 06-57. That way you can ammo up when at the stealership. Good luck and keep us posted. Do not give up!
Bring the service bulletins with you and tell them to reference SB10-061 which tells them how to look up the warranty for the car electronically.

2000 MT #4227 175K miles - Citrus Yellow, BetterBattery
Not to bring back an old topic on the forum but I recently had my IMA light come on with the same issue as the OP (P1447). I can still do Assist and Regen without any issues but my SOC is bouncing around like an undecisive child. I read from one of the posts here that it is "Battery Deteriation" but I also read somewhere that this can be fixed if the battery is re-calibrated. My question is, what should I do at this point? I guess I need some guidance on what I can do to try to fix this. I know my car is out of warranty (2000 Insight with 110,000 miles) and the previous owner had the dealership do a warranty on the car in 2008. So I shouldn't be eligible for warranty repair. Will driving my car in its current condition damage anything other than the battery? Can the dealership calibrate my batteries?
There isn't much you can do except pull the negative battery cable to reset the systems(recalibrate). And replace/rebuild the battery of course.
Doing this might last a day, a week, a month or more.. Just depends on how bad your battery is.
Doing multiple consecutive resets may help a little, this is like a force charge. Wait 5 minutes between each one to let the voltage settle.

I guess I will give that a shot. My SOC guage has been weird these past few months. I'm actually surprised it took that long for the car to throw the IMA light. Thanks.
Yet another 2008 warranty battery that has failed.
Mine is a 2008 warranty battery pack as well. So far, so good. In fact, it's far stronger than my previous 2 battery packs despite my storing my car for 2 6-month periods and 1 3-month period. I attribute this to balance charging that I started after it had been stored for 3 months (but not after the first 6 month's storage). I'll be pulling it out of storage in a couple of weeks, will balance charge it, and then will keep my fingers crossed that all remains well. Maybe I got lucky with a decent warranty replacement battery pack.
