Default Code 1456

Hi All:
Has anyone had much experience with the 1456, fuel evap system leak, code? I know it could be caused by the gas cap seal but has anyone experienced a common, other part failure? The testing procedure in the shop manual is pretty lengthy and I would rather not have to go through the whole thing if I could (maybe) avoid it. Thanks for any help. I searched the other forums, and this one, but couldn't find much on this issue--sorry if I missed something in my searches.

Ommmm,

Besides a loose or damaged fuel tank cap, some of the other possible causes for code 1456 are:
  • Fuel tank leaks at the fuel fill pipe or at the fuel tank seals
  • Fuel vapor control valve is damaged or has failed
  • Fuel tank vapor recirculation valve or vapor tube is damaged
  • Fuel tank vapor control vent tube is damaged or has failed

I would inspect all of these parts, particularly the vent and vapor tube. These parts are illustrated below:

Turned out to be the gas cap. The seal had a crack, but the crack looked so perfect that I wasn't sure if it was designed with small vent. I put a piece of electrical tape over the crack and the code did not come back through 2 tank fills.
