Default catalytic converter?

one of my ignition coils recently gave up on me and i had to drive the car on 2cylinders for an hour; i know now that this can destroy the converters i have noticed that my gas consumption went up after this episode does it have anything to do with the converters or could it have to do with the oxygen sensors (air/fuel ratio?)? i am getting a trouble code P0420.

Thank you all!!

Assuming you have fixed the coil clear the code and hope for the best.
If it comes back do some further investigation.

When misfire is detected, the ecu cut the matching injector.
