Default Need to replace rotors, calipers and brake pads :(

My 2002 Honda Insight (111K miles) started to make a scraping noise last Friday whenever the wheels turned or when I pressed the brake. So I brought the car to the Honda dealer and later I was told I needed the brake calipers, rotors and brake pads replaced in my car. I thought I could wait to replace the pads until the next oil change. The last time I had it checked was when I had the 105k service done on the car. But they said the calipers seized up and ruined the pads and rotors, so I need these all replaced.

Luckily, the lady that works in the service department is letting me order the parts on my own online (to save money) and have shipped it shipped directly to the dealer, I ordered the parts from g1parts.com.

It was my own fault probably. I felt something didn't feel right about the brakes since the summer. I guess I went by what the dealer when they measured what brake pads I had left when they inspected it.

6K miles of dragging brakes?
Anytime you have parts replaced, you have the right to have the old parts returned to you.
Do it for self satisfaction that you haven't been taken for a ride.
My suggestion and "policy".

Thanks

I'm not sure how brake calipers work or how these seized up. Have to ask them about it.

I got the car back from the dealer. The brakes work fine now. Also, had them do a brake fluid flush and radiator flush. They returned the old parts to me. I saw the brake pads and it looked worn down. I also inspected a rotor, it looked old and rusted, but I couldn't tell by looking at it if there was anything wrong with it. I will post pictures of these parts along with the calipers on this thread at a later date. I was pretty busy today, so I didn't get a chance to review all the parts.

But I have to look at the bright side. I won't have to replace the brakes anytime soon.

Almost $500 for everything (install brakes, brake flush, radiator flush and tax), not counting the money I spent on parts. That was $465 with FedEx 2-3 day shipping.

So you spent $965 total.
Did you "keep" any of the old parts?
The "disc looked old and rusty"........Were there gouges or ridges on the disc?
Were the "wear" indicators worn on the tip. (Below the thickness of the pads?)
Please post pictures if possible.
TKS
