Question 1447 error code / "module failure"

The IMA light came on last week. The dealer got the 1447 error code. He told me that it either meant that the IMA needed to be replaced or one or both "modules" failed. He wouldn't know about the modules until the IMA was replaced. The modules cost $1000 a piece. My plan is to get a BetterBattery, but what are these "modules" he's talking about? He made it sound like it was some sort of computer chip. I would hate to replace the battery only to find out that I still needed to invest a couple thousand more into these "modules". Any thoughts?

Forget the modules just get the Better Battery, he is talking about the BCM and MCM computers they do not need replacing.

Thanks. That makes me feel better about investing in a new IMA.

Another dealer rip off. If they are using the std. "Honda" tester for hybrids, they can monitor all functions of the IMA, etc. and tell you exactly what has to be replaced.
Hundreds of posts here at ICN about that subject.
Grab a six-pack, search and you will spend many hours gaining an education.

Yep, another dealer fail. This seems to be a standard practice, almost as if it's scripted. They told someone else I've been helping with their car the same thing.

Honda was willing to give her a 30% discount on a new battery, but they wouldn't know if the modules need to be replaced at an additional cost of $1800 until they had performed the battery replacement. What a load of crap.
