Default Looking at an Insight with IMA error

All, been away for a year, found a 2001 MT UK Insight currently on then market.

Its not in great shape but needs some TLC.

Just been to see it and for a test drive...

Drove OK 104,000 miles.
Service book stamped by the same Honda dealer all the way till 96000 miles when it went to an independent.

Wheels are very rough and will need a refurb. Drivers front wheel has seen some action with a big dent, tyre was flat needed air. Wheel may need to be replaced...

Body ok no real dents, a few scratches here and there as expected for miles...

Engine started and sounded fine, IMA light on solid and battery light on solid.
Tickover a little fast (if i recall) at 1250ish but think I read that is normal when IMA disabled?

Spare BCM and MCM? On passenger floor (vendor told IMA error was modules) has changed them to no effect, originals in car.

Interior very good for miles, could do with a clean and new mats all superficial. Underside looked fine could not tell if aero parts where all in place.

65 life mpg (imperial)

Vendor says that he took it to a Honda dealer and they told him the fault code was 66-1. I was expecting a Pxxxx code.

Read the sticky section on blink codes and could only find P1568 (66)*2 & P1570 (66)*3. Both of these have the same description, and match the text the vendor was given for the fault, "Battery Module Individual Input Problem".

Can any one elaborate on what that actually

Regards

Richard

PS: Not expecting a working pack, and if I buy know that I will need to buy a new one, but just wondering if grid charging or any other action will get the current pack servicable/with faults while i wait/save...

It might help a bit. But I only have one grid charger I lend it out for £50 for a month so people can test them to see if battery responds, and I don't sell them anymore. Mike in the US can supply one. One or more bad/sticks/cells is my guess. If you want to save £2000 have a look at the recent battery refurb google spreadsheet in one of the recent threads. That's very good and shows the sort of work reqd to refurb your own pack. Needless to say i have loads of spare sticks and even half a dozen batteries if you want to refurb one whilst the other is in use. Price negotiable

Advice for IMA rebuild

TLC is what these cars are all about Mark Elvin has just brought one back to life and is on my BB waiting list for a new battery which will be arriving in Jan with Luck.

How much is it, post some pics please especially of the wheel. If it's not cracked it may be repairable. Pristine wheels do a good diamond cut refurb but it will only last a couple of years max. I powder coated all of my cars wheels (All 16 of them) I can now swap them about without worry and it will last quite a few years but can be redone pretty cheaply at any time. Diamond cutting can only be done once ASFAIK or the wheels lip gets too thin.
