HIM and HDS System Manual and Help?

Got the HIM and HDS system from ODBII (China) but it didn't come with a manual in English - no surprise. I figured out how to install the XP driver, then
loaded the HDS. When I try to plug it into my Insight, it gets a "trouble with
DLC cable" error message - try again or make sure car is running. Does anyone know if the DLC light should be on if the car is communicating? Using the COM 1 port so I think its working since the PC light is on but DLC is not on. Also does anyone know what the "enter" button is for? I've looked on the Internet but cant find a manual in English that really helps. Anyone know of one out there somewhere that might help? Thanks, -J

What enter button? Post some pics of your setup/screen please.

I haven't got a manual either. Probably com port is not correctly assigned in windows to the usb/serial converter cable if it uses one. Use control panel to adjust serial ports.

On the HIM, there are 3 leds - 1 PC, 2 - power 3 - dlc. The PC and Power
are on, so I believe the inteface is talking to the PC - using serial to USB cable. On top of the HIM next to the LEDs is a Enter Green button - doesn't seem to do anything when I press it. Will send a screen shot later today - in the middle of installing the Gen 1 Grid Charger. Thanks, -J

If the him is talking to the pc then that led will flash all the time comms is taking place.
I've never pressed any of the buttons on my HIM not needed too.

Got it working. I had to have the car running before I plugged in the DLC connector. Then it worked. Pretty neat device. Thanks

Does it perform the key programming as mentioned? Please update the thread if you manage to add more keys etc to your ECM.

Have you figured out how to reset the SRS with the HDS system? The
Insight I got for my wife has a passenger car airbag kill switch. Trying to
reset the SRS so it will pass inspection. May try the manual way but was
hoping the HDS would do it easily. There doesn't seem to be a menu to
clear the DTCs? Thanks, -J

I can't remember haven't looked at it in detail.

Can you post some pics of the software screens for your gizmo especially those related to the key programming if you can capture the screens sequence in detail that would be very helpful.

I'll have a look at the SRS code issue with my HDS in next few days.

Ok, will give it a try - kind of a pain. Its not as straight forward as I thought
it would be. Do you know if there is anyway to go thru the menus without
it being connected to a car? May not get to it tonight but will get back to you. Thanks, -J
