When cold, the BCM sends charge pulses into the battery in order to warm it up from the inside out and thaw the electrolyte. The differences are that the newer ones don't risk damaging the battery.
Why don't you trade BCMs with Bob D.? He wants a 010 and has a later BCM.

Thanks Ron.

For mileage sake I'll hazard the cold if the BCM in my car is actually having the 'high mileage' one. I drive so much more in summer where it would be of advantage.
In future severe cold, I'll try to forestall any trips that can be avoided, so to not stress the battery, and/or where needed, try and warm the car's interior/IMA battery cells space, from the outside-in, prior to starting with an in-car warmer/[or small hair dryer and ducting] if experiencing sub -20C to help it out.

' found a score of bulletins in the zipped repair info, and if that's the whole sum of all listed for the vehicle, then it's all the better.
