Need serious help troubleshooting (ISB Replacement)
The story: My ISB was going out and I had a mechanic/friend who would replace it for free. Once he replaced it the problems below would not go away. He told me that he took it apart 4 times to figure it out and couldn't, then finally gave the transmission to a specialist who “fixed” it and gave it back to him. It has been at his house for the passed 8 months as I have been waiting for it to be fixed. Once driving it home ( 100 miles ) the following symptoms occurred .
-when in third gear, and cruising, the shifter will pop back into neutral
-when shifting into 1st 3rd and 5th, it feels like the shifter can go further than the gear that its in.
-When steering to the right, the wobbling of the car becomes more pronounce,
-when steering hard left the wobbling becomes smoother
-at higher speeds there is a constant shake of the car.
-When pressing in the clutch, the wobble becomes really bad
-when releasing the gas pedal while in gear, the wobble becomes more tame
-when letting out the clutch quickly in gear, it makes not only the normal clunk you would expect, but two jerks after that.
-The tug and pull of the engine is more pronounce
-constantly feels like a motor mount is bad
The car before this had non of the following issues except for the grind of the isb. Now thats gone, but all of this has appeared. I would really like some help.
Well, the only thing that changed was the transmission, so my bets are on that. Make them fix it, even if it means taking the transmission to a real shop. I wouldn't drive it with all of those symptoms, something is seriously wrong.

Maybe they pulled the engine to do the trans, and its an engine mount issue? What about a bad ground strap, jiggling under engine torque? Something messed up with a CV joint/axel shaft? To get the trans out, do either of the front wheel bearings or spindles need to be removed?

Don't drive it. Jack it up, get the front suspension parts hanging free and check everything with the "push pull" method. Something is loose. (Possible not put back together right)
Which items? It could be several things.

Bought/Sold/Dismantled six Insights so far, and every single one has been silver . I want a Citrus to keep for myself
Update- The main problems were fixed with the following
- Some how when putting the tranny back in, the mech contorted the axles so much that the bearing popped off the dog bones. It was a relief to find such an easy fix for 90% of the problems
- the over shifting was just a bad shift cable
Problems
- 3rd gear will occasionally pop out, its not violent either. it usually pops out when cruising
NEW PROBLEM
- Since I need to get my battery in for repair, I swapped it out with a bypass board. I found that my starter didn't want to work as I get a clicking/stuttering sound when trying to start it. I can hear a relay going off like crazy. My battery is fine so I'm wondering if its a grounding issue. Any advice?
Jeff- I updated my location to show, I'm in Oregon.
