Default ISB going bad. Ticking noise Temporary fix?

Took the insight to the dealer today to have them replace a broken break line. They quoted me at 350 so I decided to just do it myself. Other than that they said that my transmission was bad and needed to be replaced! After doing some research on this forum, I have thought for a while that my problem was a bad input shaft bearing (no noise during idle, noise during acceleration up to about 25mph, no noise if clutch is in). Sounds like a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle.

I know that I will eventually have to get this replaced. In the mean time, is it safe/ok to drive? Could it cause other problems if I wait to replace it? Has anyone just decided to drive with it like this? (it's really not THAT bad. Not terribly loud and Goes away after you get going)

What I really want to know is if there is any alternative transmission fluid (thicker or thinner maybe) that anyone has used to at least reduce the noise or make the bearing last a bit longer?

I know my transmission is good. Shifts well no slips. Must double clutch for downshift into second which seems to be a common problem.

It will get worse and worse. The ISB on #1 went out and over the course of about 10,000 miles got so bad that I was afraid to drive the car.
