Both have had IMA Failures. One was covered under a 10 year/150000 mile IMA warranty extension...the other was not. Both IMA systems failed within days of each other this week. In neither case did I receive the 2006 letter from Honda regarding a warranty extension.
My quesions: How do I get my cars' original in-service dates and how do I get copies of the service bulletins regarding the issues?
Can anyone explain why dealer would cover one car and make you pay for the other????

2002 cars sold before April 2002 are 10/150,000. After April they are 10/157,500.
Any sold before February 2002 are more than 10 years old.
Salvage title vehicles have no warranty at all.

Thank you for the info. After more follow-up, My dealer service center is telling me the warranty on one vehicle battery ran out at 8/80,000...knows nothing about a warranty extension to 10/150000. My other car was covered because a replacement battery failed after only 4200 miles and Honda did a goodwill replacement. Guess I have some work to do to convince the dealer to do more research.

All they have to do is punch your vin into their computer to check it.

Was able to convince a service adviser to call up the original in-service date...turns out it was 1/27/2002. My battery failed on 2/5/2012 ans the car went into the shop on 2/7/2012. Now my question is: Is Honda lenient at all on the warranties when failure is so close to expiration?
Now you are asking us to be lawyers. We can only give you suggestions, the rest will have to be decided by Honda Corp. I suggest you bypass the dealer and go straight to Honda Corp. Some dealers are very reluctant to do warranty work.
Please post your location in your (location/signature.)

For those seeking vehicle info in Canada, I found calling one of the local dealers [where the car had not been serviced] got a referral to Honda Canada 888-946-6329.
They were able to tell the in-service date and registered me as the current owner to receive any further notices that may arise. But was told by the customer service representative that they expunge vehicle records after three years time period.
So no easy history to be acquired here: i.e. There's no indication from Honda Cda of the documented change in my ECM replacement in '08 per the 'K66' recall performed.
What is necessary here to find out what might have been done previously on warranty work and such is to hunt down the probable dealerships that may have done any work on the car, [helpful to know the various locales of the vehicle if possible from Previous Owners], request them to search and provide the VIN and they perhaps will have existing service records of work done in their shop.
The service man at the dealership where I get my parts indicates that place keeps everything 'forever' , that is: at least the digital information is permanently retained. Hand written service records of past work, as used in the past by some dealers, was indicated not to be as easy to recover.
