Default This is interesting... random speeds on the dash

Well, the saga continues. My wife has the car, but she just called and stated that the readouts on the dash are going bonkers. Specifically, she is parked and the speedometer is going from 8 to 80 and bouncing everywhere inbetween. The mileage display is also going weird. Anyone heard of this? No IMA lights, no check engine either.

You are the first, check ALL the grounds that go to the 12v battery. Hook a voltmeter to the battery and see if you are getting the correct voltage. 13.8-14.2 for a start.

Wow. Again, everyone on this forum is awesome! It is a broken ground strap. I recently had the motor mounts replaced and all that shaking must have damaged the ground strap.

so did the ground straps fix the problem or is it still happening? Maybe check the speed sensor on the transmission, so if the connector isnt loose or something.

One of the ground straps was holding on with half of its threads, so I had that replaced. This video was shot after the replacement (but is the same behavior as before sans the Check Engine light).

Jeff found out that it was a lose connection on the speed sensor. To think that the Honda dealership started quoting me prices for a new IMA battery.

I was THIS || close!! to blaming dissociative drugs like phencyclidine as the cause of the problem, LOL.
