I finally got my bearings to the machine shop on Monday to get a sleeve made. Question for you guys, which gasket/rebuild kit are you using? I have found a few but they vary so much in price and just want to know if anyone else has a rebuild kit in their hands yet.

I picked up my bearing sleeve today, and the machine shop was nice enough press the new bearing and sleeve onto the pulley assembly.

Now, for rebuild kits I am finding these vendors with the kits [grouped by vendor] from cheapest vendor to most expensive after shipping.

ECFool recommends TranStar rebuild kits but I can't find any vendors selling them, nor a way to order from their website. Registering for an account wasn't fruitful either.

Anyone have any thoughts on which kit to use or have any other suggestions?

[Mods, I have no affiliation with these vendors and if I am not allowed to post links to products, I will gladly remove them]

Transtar is a dead end. I got a hold of them today and they don't even acknowledge the rebuild kit part number from their 2011 catalog. I am ordering a different one and getting this tranny back together.

you may want to check with Honda dealer, they sell gasket kits. I wish I knew that before going over the catalog and ordering every single o-ring and gasket.

Not sure if this is your car but you get the idea.

Thanks for the tip! Also, the price isn't bad. I did order an aftermarket overhaul kit yesterday, though. If this rebuild works I will use OEM on the next one.

I joined this forum yesterday hoping I would find the information in this very thread! But I'm finding so much more - I wonder where I've been all these years? Just got my '01 CVT (yuck) torn down to discover the balls and races (or what's left of them) to the unruly bearing for which you have been finding solutions. I understand the machined sleeve is the only option short having an insider in Japan? I hope you guys don't mind an occasional PM for guidance requsts.

Thanks for your wisdom...

Welcome Ridesafe, read read read is my best suggestion for you. Tons of information on this site. What I did was everytime I found a thread that had good information I would create a Word document and paste the link along with good info and pictures into the document. I have built my own digital information library from this site and have set it all up in an orginized filing system so I can immediately find things if needed.

Got my CVT transmission out and disasembled down to the bearing.
Now I need to order a new one. I thought after researching that the model number for the bearing was 6009 but there are different types of seals (mine is in too bad of shape to tell):
Seals on one side, seals on both sides, metal seals, rubber seals, etc..
Could someone direct me to the correct one?
Also has anyone found a good hybrid or full ceramic bearing for this application, or who they ordered thiers from?
Also the flywheel has two parts and must have a bearing inside. Mine wobbles. Anybody know anything about that bearing?

Here is a picture of what is left of my Input shaft bearing. It really on made a lot of noise at lower speads once you got up to about 45 mpg the noise almost went away.
