I believe that the maintenance required light illuminates every 7,500 miles which is the standard maintenance interval. The pattern is that it starts by blinking and eventually stays on. You can turn off this light by following a procedure that I think is described in the owner's manual (or you can search this forum for instructions).

The maintenance required light will blink when you start the car starting around 6500 miles since it was last reset. It will stay on once it gets to 7500 miles since reset.
