Default CEL & ABS on, no assist, no IMA charge, no BAT

I'm trying to get my son's 2000 MT running for him while he's at grad school. It's got 221,xxx miles. I had a used engine installed s the original unit suffered a broken timing chain. I also had the tranny rebuilt while it was out. I balanced, or at least tried to balance the IMA with a grid charger.

The car starts and runs fine but the charge, assist and BAT indicator show no segments after the initial start up test and the CEL, maintenance required soon and ABS lights all stay on.. A few of the upper segments of the charge indicator briefly illuminate after start up. There appears to be no IMA assist. The 12 volt battery appears to be charging.

Anyone seen this situation or have any ideas as to what's wrong?

Thanks,
David

If you haven't already tried, sometimes just disconnecting the neg. battery cable for a few seconds will correct a lot of problems.

Please pull the codes and report back here. Autozone can pull them for you or you can use the blink method as described in this link:

I removed the 12 v battery negative, waited a few minutes and replaced but the symptoms persist.

Here are the blink error codes:
CEL
69 six long, nine short
8 no long, eight short

ABS 51 five long, one short

EPS
23 two long, three short
22 two long, two short

I've checked battery and engine grounds. All look good, tight with no corrosion.

None of your codes are IMA related.

Did you swap ECM as well as engine?

Check the big switch is on at the back.
Check the main IMA 100A fuse hasn't blown

Look up you codes in the diagnostic spreadsheet stickied in one of these forums.

Swapping and engine in/out involves disconnecting a lot of electrical stuff, especially in the passenger footwell around the ECM make sure it is all back together correctly.

Same ECU in car.

IMA switch is on, there's a big delay before the starter kicks in if it's off.

Where is the IMA 100A fuse? How can I tell if it's blown?

Use search "100A Fuse"

Have you looked up the codes in the spreadsheet that might give us a clue.
Post the results for each code here.

Check for blown or missing fuses under the dash and in the engine compartment.

Check the voltage of the 12V battery with a meter.

The codes I'm getting are from the CEL, EPS and ABS lights. I don't have the four digit codes.

All fuses look good. It appears the 100 Amp IMA fuse is good. I've got 160 volts on the battery pack with the engine off, at idle and at 3,500 RPM.

The 12 volt battery reads 12.77 volts with the key off.
