wheel rims bent - repair? replace?

I had 4 new Potenzas put on, which resulted in a new vibration in steering . The tire shop re-balanced & it's better but still, vibration isn't completely gone and - as I suspected - the shop pointed out 3 bent rims.

I'd like to start out the new tires without extra wobble-wear.

How would I go about finding a competent rim-straightening shop?
Is repair worth trying?
yelp shows good reviews for Rim and WHeel Works, Waltham, MA.

on ebay, it's frustrating narrowing a search.

At majestichonda, there are 3 drawings that look like a wheel rim -
which is which? what's the difference : 14x4T vs. 14X5 1/2JJ ?

The 14x4 rim is the spare tire rim.

The 14x5 is the actual road wheel.

The cheap 14x5 (black) are steelies for snow tire use.

tire machines have the strength to bend aluminum wheels.

As to shop bending wheels . . .
yes, it's believable.

i bought 4 new tires,
New vibration in steering at 64-66 mph was a tipoff, and they re-balanced 'em . .

Pressure was 35 psi on all 4 . .

Driver side fender skirt was sticking "out" at top rear . . kinda obvious lack of attention . .

But the winner : . .
at my next stop after picking up car: passenger-side skirt was hanging by 1 fastener . . which they did replace.

Something to consider. Remove the skirts before they get the car.
I put mine in the rear hatch and tell them "I'll put the skirts back on myself."

Yup. I decided that pretty quickly, after I cooled down.
Now I'll give verbal warnings about soft aluminum with new tires.

Also, one skirt is fastened with Jaguar junkyard Dzuz-style fasteners which match perfectly (thanks to a UK member of this board) but have a Philips head.

I'm still puzzled at how the mechanic could have screwed up so badly.
It was Saturday 7:30 a.m. when I dropped off - - and not busy. He might not have been at his best after Friday night.

Here is my post on fixing a bent wheel with a bottle jack. If you want I will loan you the fitted wood block and steel piece. Just cover postage both ways- probably $30. total.

I agree with Willie. All Insighters should re and re their own skirts. CF-105 is still looking for a red skirt after a tire shop put on his snows.

I don't think anyone has ever mentioned this but one benefit of running higher pressures in your tires is that if the pressures do start to drift down you have some time before you get to the danger zone with those aluminum wheels.
