Default Digital instrument 'crazing'

Hello All

Got in to Logan this morning after a v cold night here in the UK and noticed that the orange battery assist section of the digital display was illuminated in a crazy pattern.....I fear the cold may have effected it...the gauge still works but the crazing is there permanently now........v frustrating...any ideas?

I cant imagine this is something one can get repaired these days either.

Many thanks

Dan

Default Instrument

hi Mark

thanks for that - good to know! Not sure what is preferable though...slightly dodgy display or completely different mileage etc - let me know how much you would want please.

thanks

Dan

Its possible to swap the lcd part onto the cluster if you want the mileage the same.
However could be tricky and no guarantee's.

The bleeding lcd display is a known issue and sadly it's permanent.

You could buy a new car for the cost of a new lcd. It's £1600 for the lcd part.

Not sure if a US breakers yard part will help you it might be cheaper.

I have a spare UK manual cluster (They are different from the cvt don't forget).

My price for it inc special delivery p&p is £600 no offers.

I was having the "crazing" issue with the assist gauge ever since I bought the car in May '10. Mysteriously though, over this past summer, it gradually lessened and eventually completely cleared up. However, it is starting up again since it has gotten colder the last couple of months.

i started having the problem a few winters ago. got all better in the summer, then a little worse the next winter. then not quite all better that summer, and a little worse that winter...etc, etc, etc.

not sure exactly what it is(related to dead pixels in a LCD??) but it doesnt effect the performance of the display, just cosmetic
