Hi everyone, have some bad news for my baby. Went to a good restaurant in a bad area two nights ago, came outside to discover my rear passenger corner had been indented and panel split apart. I pushed the panel back into place and it looks decent again.
All seemed not too terrible until the MID reported check IMA System, then it reported check Charging System. Last night, the car went haywire and said check Braking System as well as the first two; it lost radio power, my headlights went off, and within a minute, my whole car died while driving...I was so fortunate to be in front of my house when this happened. I'm really how something serious like this can occur from a minor fender bender.
How do I get to a Honda dealer? Deactivate the IMA to drive it, or just have it towed?
How crappy! This happened to me in my G coupe - though, of course no issues with electrical, etc...just some idiot who hit me in a parking lot and left.
In the manual I think it describes how to drive the car when certain things go wrong...or you could call the dealer or Honda national and ask the best way to go about it so you do no more damage.
Former Cars:
2007 Honda Pilot EX 2WD
2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe
2003 Infiniti G35 Sedan
1999 Nissan Altima GXE
1989 Dodge Daytona (got as hand-me-down in 1998 )
If you lift up the cover for the spare tire and follow the black ventilation ducting for the IMA battery located directly under the tire, I **think**, if I remember correctly, the IMA battery vents out the passenger rear side. Be sure the vanes that allow the ventilation duct to exit out the inner fender aren't obstructed. This would cause the IMA battery to overheat and could be the cause of the CELs you are seeing. I can't see how the electronics could be so severely affected by a parking lot hit to the rear and that you were able to bump back into place.
Did any fuses blow that might have led to the sudden loss of function in the electrical systems? The car should run on the ICE alone, even with an inoperable IMA system.
Perhaps an ABS sensor was damaged and this is the culprit for the brake system?
Check the IMA vent exit to be sure it's not obstructed to determine whether or not I can be driven anywhere. Just my 0.02.
Mike

Both my HCH and the Ridgeline we leased before the I2 were victims of hit & runs. I actually chased to guy who hit the RL down and the police ended up catching him. Unfortunately, I didn't get the opportunity to introduce him myself to old testament-style punishment.

Your answer was most accurate. The injured I2 has been in the shop since July 3rd and the tech said the fan to cool down the IMA system was damaged; So this fender bender may turn out to cost a pretty penny. My perspective is changing on hybrids, I now feel that they're too fragile; especially coming from my "beat 'em up" FIT.

I assume that this is all covered under insurance or state uninsured funds, or some such? Not out of YOUR pocket, right??
Does the tech give you a 'warm and fuzzy' that all will be perfect when the fan and all is back in place? I doubt that this scenario will repeat, and it is entirely possible that a similarly damaging incident could harm a 'bulletproof' Fit just as badly...like a twisted frame, etc.

Damage can be a lot worse than it looks on any car. I was in a pretty low speed accident (neither cars' airbags deflated), and while the only visible issue with my CRV was that the front license plate bent inward, it ended up having over $2,000 worth of damage to it, as there were a bunch of little cracks that you couldn't see. The bumper, grill, Honda H, and the side panels over the wheels, etc were all replaced. Luckily the other person's insurance paid
