I've had electronic toll boxes in all my cars for several years (IPass, EZPass, IZoom or whatever they're called in the various locales). I keep the transponder box in the I2 located at the top of the window line with the plastic velcro strips as I have in the past, but for whatever reason, the box isn't functioning now. I only have factory tint and the accounts are up to date and automatically refill, but I've gotten multiple tickets in the mail now for not paying tolls. I relocated the transponder to the dash with the same results. The new I2 plate # is not yet registered to the IPass account, and now I have to got to toll court to get the fines removed.
I've never had trouble with windshields in my other Hondas blocking the signals to the transponder but that appears to be the case with the I2. Has anyone else had an issue with this?

Have you checked to see if the battery is dead? I had an EZ-PASS tag battery die on me. Most EZ-Pass offices have a tester.
If the battery is dead, you should have no problem getting the fines removed.

Doesn't it let you know right away that it didn't register? I would immediately pull over and tell the guard that yours isn't working so that you could avoid the tickets -and maybe even find a resolution to the issue.

In every other State in the Union that is the case, but not in Illinois. There are some areas where you just drive under a reader at 50 MPH and there is no indication whatsoever that it did or did not read your Pass.

Ours have an RFID card in them, with no battery. It's ~5 urs old, though, so it may be dying.
You'd think so, but no. The RFID target activates the battery which then bleeps the signal, so technically, they're transponders that consume no power when off. I was told this by a tech after my tag started getting flaky. The range went way down. The cop had to wave it right up to the sensor to trigger and eventually that didn't even work. The thing would still trigger the tester but only at a range of an inch or so.

Uh. . . . . if the plate number isn't registered then it won't recognize the transponder as belonging to your car and won't pay the toll. Try registering your car and there shouldn't be a problem.
I got my new plate number registered the day before I drove my week old car on I-95 in Maryland, The NJ Turnpike, The Garden State Parkway and the NY Thruway. All tolls were paid with no problem. I have the transponder is at the top of the windshield to the right of the mirror attachment as recommended.

Our express lanes for IPass users are 3 lanes, 55 mph, with an "exit" with toll booths to the side. No way to check it, and no indicator on the transponder that it isn't working.
