Default Hissing

Tonight, after I parked my Insight, I went back a couple minutes later to lock the garage door and noticed a hissing sound coming from under the hood. I came back in 15 minutes and it had stopped. It's the first time I've noticed it. Has anyone else heard this? And is this something I should be concerned about? My Jetta used to run air under the hood for a bit after some drives. I'm not really tech savvy, but any input would help. Thanks.

On the insight its the magic smoke trying to escape the system that runs the hybrid drive. Naw, its from the air conditioner compressor, just the pressure from the high and low side balancing out since its not working anymore with engine off.

I had a vw rabbit from the 80s and the cooling fan use to always work once the engine was shut off or on very hot days in the 100s. It was considered normal.

Heh, my Prius used to make strange noises related to the AC, brake accumulator recovery, and myriad other systems...sometimes the noise contined for over 45 minutes after shut down...very 'star ship' like

Thank you for your replies. I didn't want to be paranoid, but had to ask.

Yeah the prius is a real piece of work. I hear it has an insulated bottle that it pumps the warm engine coolant into to keep it warmer longer for next start up. It has a coling system for the controller on top of the one for the tranny and engine plus electric motor.
