Default The carwash broke my car :O

OK, so it really wasn't that dramatic. So I went through one of those cheapo carwashes (yes, I know they can scratch the car, but it was one connected to an Irving where you can get a discount on gas if you're getting the car washed, and my car was filthy ), and when the car came out, the weather-proofing strips that run between the front and back windows had popped off on both sides and were hanging off.
Turns out they just hook in and aren't glued. I reattached them, but then called the dealership just to be sure glue hadn't dried up or something.
And now that I'm writing this, I'm having deja vu about it. I think this may have happened to me a long time ago too.
So I guess the moral of the story is wash cars yourself, lol.

Its always hard getting car advice from the internet, because theres always someone who thinks what your're doing is not only not good enough, but sure to destroy your car as well.

However, I was sufficiently scared by the car wash warnings that I decided to do it myself for at least the first couple years of my cars life. Turns out I suck at waxing.

Later, once the dings set in, I'll take more of a chance.

I usually do it myself, but end up making more of a mess. Instead of dirt I have soap spots and wax smears, lol

Default No spot solution

You should give Eagle One’s ‘Wipe & Shine’. I just used it before taking some pictures. It’s great; you can use it on everything. It shines up the body, lens AND glass with no streaking. It even makes the black trim look ‘factory fresh’ You just spray it on and buff it off with a micro-fiber towel. I’m thinking I’m going to try their Nano-paste wax before winter sets in.

The same thing happened to me when I went through the automated car wash a few times.

Just put back on... no big deal. It doesn't happen to me when I go to one of those self-serve car washes and wash the car myself.

Sorry to hear about your experience. But yeah, I strongly agree every car owner should do the own washing of his/her car.

Same thing with me. Though it did snap back on, it is an annoyance and should not be happening. I will be interested to hear what the dealership says about it. I would hope there is a permanent fix.

The dealership just said to pop it back in. I guess there's no real fix.

I always wash the car myself. I have had bad experiences with those automatic washes before. I used to have a firebird and I took it through one of those things and when I came out, I had tons of little bristles hanging out of the car's "side-effects" I spent hours with a pair of pliers trying to gently remove those without damaging the car. Also I have had bent antennas before too. Not to mention the fact that the car is never completely dry so when you drive off, the water streaks down the sides of the car and dries and leaves streaks.. looks terrible.
