Default front windshield won't come clean

I have a strange mottled hard water spot-like appearance to my front windshield and it doesn't clean off with standard window cleaning products. Anyone else having this problem, any recommended cleaning methods?

I'm getting something similar in my rearview mirror (which may give me an excuse to DIY-install the auto day/night mirror); a firm wiping with a microfiber cloth helped a *little*.

I also got a very thin Teflon-like film on the windshield, which also came off with the microfiber.

I've been having problems with a lot of streaking and smudging when I try to clean the inside front window. I switched from windex and paper towels to windex and rags, and that seemed to make it better, but not perfect.

I find a drop of dish soap + 1/2 cup of water usually good for a rough wipe inside and out, then microfiber dry. The soap inside helps prevent fogging..

Cool

Invisible Glass and a couple of clean microfiber cloths will remove any film, residue and streaking.

i think daily cleaning using water and detergent will do the trick..
