Default Wimpy Horn

I just wanted to see if anyone else got a survey from Honda regarding horn sounds. Funny how a lot of folks have complained about the sound of the Insight's horn and now they are sending out a survey to see what kind of horn sounds we feel would work best. It had four different horn sounds. The first one sounded like the Insight's and they progressively got louder and more aggressive sounding. I gave the wimpy sound the least favorable choice. Maybe someday they will upgrade our horns for free??? Probably will just change it on the new model, but I can always hope.

YES! I just got through taking it and came here to see if anyone else got the survey.. I guess they did. Of course, I really don't care about the horn issue as I don't think I've ever even tried the horn in mine yet and probably never will. As I mentioned earlier, I'm not a honking type of driver. But I remember other people here talking about it before. I did rank the 4th horn the best because it had a mix of different frequencies which made it very harsh sounding to the ears.

To add to this, the four horns sounds had these labels to them:

(A) Honda Fit
(B) Toyota Yaris
(C) Ford Focus
(D) Honda Accord

The Accord-labeled one was the harshest one.

BlueRidge,

Pretty new Insight owner here in South Carolina. My family (wife, 10 year old and 15 year old) visits Boone/Banner Elk area very regularly. How does the Insight handle the mountains??? We are thinking of visiting during Thanksgiving weekend but didn't know whether to take the Insight or her CR-V which has always done well up there. I'm thinking it might struggle a little with 4 passengers.

well welcome to the I2 club.. Boone/Banner Elk is right up from where we live. I usually go up that way ever few months just to take a drive on the parkway.. i need to plan a trip up there again sometime soon.. anyways.. i have driven with me, my wife, my father in law, my son (baby) and a 70lb golden retriever up and down and around here with no problems. I picked up my father in law from Asheville airport with all his bags and went back up here with no problems on I-26.. We actually went on a trip to Grandfathers Mtn during the summer and we had no problems going up there at all.. I usually run with eco on but if I am on a big hill and someone is riding my butt.. I just turn off eco mode and go... no problems.. you would have a great time if everyone fits ok in the I2.. and the weather up here has been great too.. i hope it lasts thru thanksgiving.. i have family coming to rent a cabin and cook thanksgiving dinner there which should be fun

Thanks!!! If you went up Grandfather with no issues, anything else in NC should be a breeze.

Despite the general criticism of rear seat headroom and legroom in the Insight, my boys never complain. My 6' tall 15 year old sometime gripes about getting in and out, but once they are inside, they plug their portable TV in and they are happy.

Do you end up using the paddle shifters on steeper inclines?

Yah im 6' 4" and im the one doing the driving.. but if your 15yr old can fit in the back seat then you are good.. i sat in the backseat with my son in his carseat once.. i had to move the driver seat up some.. heh

yes i do sometimes downshift with the paddle shifters if its an extreme climb and someone is on my bumper... i just do it while in D.. i dont downshift to S before doing so.. once i get near the top of the hill it goes back to automatic anyways..

also.. we just hijacked this thread hehe..
